It has gained a reputation for record times and fast running and as a sell-out summer social that offers a free beer and burger at the finish line, and the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k is back once again on Friday 21 June 2019 (7.30pm start).
Bellahouston Harriers' flagship 10k road race starts and finishes at Cartha Queen's Park RFC (92 Dumbreck Road, Glasgow, G41 4SN), and is staged over a two loop course inside the scenic grounds of Pollok Park. It attracts athletes from all across Scotland, having become one of the most popular 10k races on the circuit since its inception in 2011.
The 2018 event saw Luke Traynor post the third fastest ever time for a 10k road race by a Scot, and the second fastest anywhere in the UK during the year – with only Mo Farah pipping Luke's time of 28:32 in Manchester in May. The course record was also smashed in the women's race as Inverness Harriers' Jenny Bannerman won in a time of 35:08.
The move by Bellahouston Harriers to retain the traditional, officially certified, course route and install new and improved traffic management controls for the 2018 'Goodwin' won overwhelming support from runners, and the club has once again invested to ensure a great race experience in 2019.
Early bird entries are available at £15 for SAL members and £17 for non-SAL members until the 31st of January. Entries taken after this will cost £18 for SAL members and £20 for non-SAL members and online entries will close on 17th of June.
If there are entries still available at the time of the online entries closing, a limited number of entries on the day may be made available. However, early entry is encouraged given both the 2017 and 2018 events sold out in advance.
Runners qualify for a free beer and burger, in addition to a goody bag available at the finish line. Bellahouston Harriers extends a warm welcome to all runners, families and supporters, and encourages them to stay and socialise at the clubhouse at Cartha, where the barbecue and post-race prize-giving will be hosted. Prizes will be awarded to the first three males and females across the line. Team and age-group prizes are also on offer.
