Coronavirus Statement

Posted in News on Mar 16, 2020

In line with latest Government guidance asking people to "cease all non-essential social contact", all club training and activities will be cancelled for the foreseeable future.

Bellahouston Harriers have taken the decision to cancel this year's Brian Goodwin 10km race which was due to be held on June 19th, in Glasgow’s Pollok Park. It is regrettable, but we feel to cancel is the only and correct option.

With all current uncertainty amidst the Coronavirus crisis, and basing our decision on Government advice and that of Scottish Athletics, we feel the race can not possibly be held at this time. We do not wish to put any strain on the emergency services, nor to endanger the health and well-being of entrants, supporters, spectators, and the wider public.

The process will begin in the coming days of refunding the entry fees paid by entrants, and we ask that you please be patient with us as we work through this process. Emails will be forthcoming in due course.

We apologise for cancelling the race, we like nothing more than to host you all for a summer’s evening race, and for burgers and beers, but alas it isn’t to be this year. We hope you and your families all stay healthy and safe in the coming months, and we can all meet again in 2021.

Your support and understanding are much appreciated at this time.

Best wishes, Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert President of Bellahouston Harriers.
