South By Five Bellahouston Park

Posted in News, Race Reports on Jan 07, 2022

πŸ’« It’s only just the beginning of 2022 and we have started as we mean to continue - running together as a club, supporting each other's goals, and fostering a running community around health, well-being, and racing!

πŸ“† Many of our members started 2022 at Pollok parkrun on New Year's Day. This has been a long-standing tradition in the club - a great way to kick off the year on a positive foot and help offset some of the types of festive cheer consumed!

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Then on Sunday 2nd Jan, it was the 5th event of the South By 5 series held at Bellahouston Park which was designated a club championship race. Thirty-one Harriers toed the line on an unseasonably mild and slightly windy day. The course consisted of a tarmac route with sharp uphills and sweeping downhills and to add a bit of variety the course incorporated a steep set of stairs. It was a day of good performances by Harriers, with Fraser Armstrong grabbing second place by three seconds from David Macintosh and the third Harrier home was Duncan Anderson. Kristina Greig was just outside the places, finishing in fourth as she continues to return from injury, followed by Katherine Hylands and Claire McCormack. πŸ‘πŸ» It was great to see several other Harriers running strong and a good few others helping to fill the volunteer rota.

⏭ The next South By 5 is at Queens Park on the 16th with the next Club Champs event being Drumpellier Parkrun on the 22nd Jan.
